We are always looking for creative, motivated, and ambitious people to join the lab!

Postdoctoral Fellows

Postdoc positions are available to study circuits in the prefrontal cortex, thalamus, striatum and related brain regions. Research projects involve studying different cell types, assessing local and long-range connectivity, determining how circuits are reorganized by experience, and assessing their functional roles during behavior. Experiments combine slice and in vivo electrophysiology, two-photon imaging, optogenetics, and behavior, taking advantage of new genetic and optical tools. Subsidized housing for postdocs is available around the Washington Square Campus, in the heart of Greenwich Village and near the lab. Candidates should have a PhD in Neuroscience or related discipline, as well as experience with electrophysiology, imaging, or behavior.

Graduate Students

PhD and MD/PhD students have always played an important role in our lab research. During their rotations, graduate students typically learn slice physiology, 2-photon imaging and optogenetics, depending on their interests. PhD thesis projects often assess the organization and function of circuits in prefrontal cortex, thalamus or striatum. Students lead their own projects, and encouraged to pursue their own ideas and incorporate new technologies.

Research Technicians

We are looking for a full-time research associate to participate in new research projects to study how subcortical signals are routed through higher-order thalamus to the frontal cortex. Responsibilities include animal husbandry, stereotaxic surgeries, fluorescence microscopy, and behavioral experiments using in vivo photometry, electrophysiology, and 2-photon microscopy. Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in neuroscience or related discipline, previous research experience, good organizational skills, and ability to make a two-year commitment.
